WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE LURAY cHRISTIAN CHURCH?
On Pentecost last year we held a "World Cafe" where we shared dreams and discussed the future of the Luray Christian Church. We prayed about God's plan for us in the coming years, and committed ourselves to some brave new ministries. Out of our discussion came a theme - that we are truly blessed! We have been blessed by the brave folks who left their congregation to start a new one in the Town of Luray. We have been blessed by all the saints who were part of the church for the past 100 years. We are blessed with a beautiful building, a highly visible location, and a warm and loving congregation. We are truly a family of faith. If we have one struggle it is remembering that we are so blessed, even though we are growing older and have seen a decline in numbers. We want to share our blessings with others, to invite them to experience this amazing community! And so our theme for 2020 is "WE ARE BLESSED!" We invite you to come worship with us, fellowship with us, gather in Bible study - and experience the blessing of being part of a loving faith community.

2019 was a busy year at LCC -
Santa helped us celebrate Christmas in July with a fun out-door Christmas party. We had a "summer sledding hill" and lots of crafts and food. Later in July Pastor Sara attended the General Assembly in Des Moines, IA renewing old friendships and making new ones. We ended the summer with a Celebration at Lake Arrowhead. It was a beautiful Sunday morning with worship, a pot luck picnic and a baptism! Our centennial year concluded with worship at our Mother Church, the Old Antioch Church, where we dedicated the beautiful communion table quilt, honored the diaconate, and returned the original pulpit to it's home. Christmas the Christmas Season was both busy and beautiful beginning with the Hanging of the Greens, including a Christmas program by the choir and a holiday pot-luck hosted by the CWF, and concluding with a candle light Christmas Eve Service. |
